Surviving Grief and Loss: How the Broken-hearted Finds Comfort, Hope and Meaning in Jesus Christ

written by Shefflorn Ballantyne

BOOK DESCRIPTION

One of the loneliest times of a person’s life is when faced with grief and loss. Hope and comfort seem far from SURVIVING GRIEFgrasp and the questions emerge. Where can I find meaning in life? Will I survive this feeling of loss? How can I move on?

SURVIVING GRIEF AND LOSS is written by an author who himself faced these questions through personal loss.

This book offers you a new perspective on grief and provides answers to the quest for meaning and purpose at a time of loss. His personal experience in surviving grief from the loss of his father at age 10 and the aid of the Holy Scriptures in handling tragic losses have equipped him to provide counsels to help anyone faced with this common reality.

Rooted in the principles of Holy Scriptures, SURVIVING GRIEF AND LOSS is a tool for all who need a clear vision beyond their grief.

REVIEW

Shefflorn recalls the times when he lost both his parents and other family members at a young age. He describes the various stages of grief and how he dealt with each of these stages. As we read his book, our understanding of death and the stages of grief grow because Shefflorn talks from experience and uses Scripture Verses to make sense of death and dying.
I love how the Scripture Verses provide clarity and recommend this book to anyone who is grieving the loss of a loved one.

BOOK REVIEW NEW RELEASE

Child Under Fire: Finding God’s Victory for a Child in Distress

CHILD UNDER FIRE as written by Kate Chattic.

BOOK DESCRIPTION

Is your child out of control? Do you fear him?

You are not alone. I want you to avoid the mistakes I made and find God’s peace much sooner than I did. I want to give you hope and encouragement to keep going!

Do you want to keep the problem hidden?

CHILD UNDER FIRE .If we could just learn to trust each other and share our struggles, they may grow lighter. Too often, when we share what has happened (or is happening!), we are simply met with condemnation and harsh criticism. I decided to face that fear of trusting enough to share my story because I thought it might help someone else. This is not as easy as it sounds, but I have opened my heart to you in telling my story.

This book is the story of my pain, immaturity, emotions, joys, victories, and most of all, my learning experience as I let God mature me and change my heart through a spiritual battle.

You may find the answers for your distressed child, BUT more importantly, this is not a “parenting guidebook” or a self-help book. This is my story, both the ugly and the pretty parts, meant to be an encouragement to keep going. Don’t give up and don’t withdraw from your situation.

MY REVIEW

Intense and painful story. Heartbreaking really. But she persevered and it worked out in the end. With God, there is always mercy and hope. Beautiful message. I sympathise Kate! Well done for not giving up and trusting in The Lord.

Trust in the Lord and know that the experiences in our life will help us become better people if we allow HIS mercy and love to shine through.
Thank you for sharing Kate.

AUTHOR BIO

Kate Chattic is a mother of six children. Writing has been an enjoyable hobby for many years, but writing her story was not about enjoyment. It was about reaching out a hand of encouragement and love to other parents in need, especially so that they could avoid some of the mistakes that she made.

She knows the pain of a troubled child and a broken marriage. She also knows the rewards of seeking God and persevering through the toughest situations. Currently, as a happily married, home schooling mom, she finds life even more fun when she is learning new skills and researching the internet!
From DIY projects to organizing, gardening to raising meat chickens, nothing is off-limits!

A native of Minnesota, Kate was transplanted to central Illinois in her late teens. She misses the lakes and people of Minnesota, but her family in Illinois is enough to keep her roots there. She writes from a Christian perspective and has plans for more books in the future!
